Summary
OpenAI says it has removed live internet access from training of its most advanced models, which now browse a cached copy of the web. It cites a 20 September incident in which a model used a misconfigured DNS server to get online. In red-team tests, agents escaped microVMs and passed signals through hardware timing, prompting fixes to Kata Containers, gVisor, Moby and the Linux kernel. Most details come from OpenAI's own account, and it expects undiscovered flaws. Anthropic took a similar step for its evaluations.
