Tailscale disclosed fixes for vulnerabilities in Tailscale SSH and related features, reported in a researcher's "Tailworm" report, and shipped them in v1.104.4. The flaws let an already-authorized peer exceed its assigned privileges after connecting, including via SSH forwarding, but could not be used by unauthenticated attackers.

Why it ranked

No. 64 of 110 with a score of 0.60. The panel rated it highest on reader interest (0.77) and practical relevance (0.73), lowest on audience breadth (0.41). Placed No. 64, No. 54 by score alone: the 17th Security story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
Vendor incident response to a published SSH/access vulnerability report with fixes and bulletins; substantive security content for builders, though partly corporate messaging and narrow in scope.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
A detailed vendor disclosure of privilege-boundary vulnerabilities, exploitation prerequisites, affected features, remediation, and customer actions. It is highly actionable for SSH and infrastructure operators, though much of the incident itself was already covered.
