3 judges. Scored by all three judges. Only the day’s top stories get the claim check. How far stories are checked

An independent developer released sonic-adventure, a complete matching decompilation of the 1999 Sega Dreamcast game Sonic Adventure: 247 binaries and 5.8 million bytes of code, rebuilt from source and matched byte for byte against the original disc.

Read the original at kylemayer.io. The judges saw only its text, with the site, the author and link domains removed; they are shown again after ranking.

Why it ranked

No. 119 of 127 with a score of 0.55. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.89) and technical depth (0.74), lowest on audience breadth (0.42). Placed No. 119, No. 120 by score alone: the 55th AI & machine learning story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
A substantive engineering write-up of an AI-driven decompilation project with concrete technical detail, but largely personal narrative and niche retro-gaming interest with limited broad practical relevance.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
A technically detailed, unusually concrete account of using AI agents, orchestration, debugging, compiler behavior, and specialized tooling to produce a byte-matched Dreamcast decompilation. It offers both a substantial artifact and useful lessons about agentic engineering.

Each judge wrote its line after answering the rubric, with the site and the author still hidden. Every answer behind this is in the table under Score.
