Canonical's LXD container and VM manager has a critical flaw (CVE-2026-112816, CVSS 10) in its HTTPS listener, where improper certificate validation lets an unauthenticated attacker using a crafted certificate chain authenticate as any trusted client and gain full control of the cluster and managed VMs.

Read the original at cve.now. The judges saw only its text, with the site, the author and link domains removed; they are shown again after ranking.

Why it ranked

No. 66 of 111 with a score of 0.60. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.92) and practical relevance (0.77), lowest on audience breadth (0.36). Placed No. 66, No. 58 by score alone: the 24th Security story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
Critical CVE in LXD, a widely used container/VM manager, with fix versions and remediation guidance. Important to infra and security readers, but it is a vulnerability advisory aggregator entry with limited technical depth and no exploitation evidence.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
A critical, unauthenticated LXD TLS client-certificate validation flaw can enable full cluster and VM takeover. The piece provides affected versions, fixed releases, impact, and remediation, but limited technical detail and relies partly on automated summarization.
