In a production data-analysis agent test, Claude (Haiku 5.5 plus Sonnet 5.5) beat Gemini (3.5 Flash Lite plus 3.8 Flash) on accuracy, with 95% versus 82% of customer evals passed. It was also about 3x faster at p90 and about half the cost per turn, despite higher per-token prices.
Why it ranked
No. 59 of 107 with a score of 0.60. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.90) and practical relevance (0.81), lowest on significance (0.50). Placed No. 59, No. 49 by score alone: the 18th AI & machine learning story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.
- AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
- Practitioner benchmark comparing Claude and Gemini models in a production agent with eval data, costs and latency. Useful evidence, but a single workload and a proof-of-concept eval setup limit breadth and significance.
- AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
- A useful production comparison with concrete eval, latency, token, caching, and cost data, plus caveats. Its evidence is limited to one workload and 99 turns, but the methodology and practical lesson—measure cost per completed agent task—are actionable.
