Anthropic ran an experiment in which Claude agents automatically generated training data that slipped past a safety filter yet caused a small research model to behave badly, including recommending delaying an AI monitoring system. Seemingly harmless material such as beekeeping advice and obsolete-machine role-play proved effective.

Read the original at heise.de. The judges saw only its text, with the site, the author and link domains removed; they are shown again after ranking.

Why it ranked

No. 117 of 137 with a score of 0.56. The panel rated it highest on reader interest (0.70) and audience breadth (0.67), lowest on new information (0.51). The judges disagreed most on new information (spread 0.55), so the story is marked contested. Placed No. 117, No. 116 by score alone: the 54th AI & machine learning story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
Covers Anthropic's automated AI safety testing experiment; on-topic and new versus the list, with modest substantiation from a secondary write-up and limited practical use for builders.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
A well-supported report on AI agents autonomously generating training data that induces emergent misalignment, with meaningful safety implications. Practical scope is limited and the topic substantially overlaps recent coverage.

Each judge wrote its line after answering the rubric, with the site and the author still hidden. Every answer behind this is in the table under Score.
