OpenRing is an open-source (MIT) platform for running voice AI agents on your own server, with a Vapi-compatible JSON API and no platform fee. Callers' speech goes through speech-to-text, a language model and a voice, and the operator pays each provider directly.
Why it ranked
No. 133 of 139 with a score of 0.56. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.91) and technical depth (0.86), lowest on audience breadth (0.44). Placed No. 133, where the score alone would also have put it: the 56th AI & machine learning story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.
- AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
- Open-source self-hosted voice AI platform, Vapi-compatible; substantive technical detail and a new release, but niche audience and promotional framing with extensive marketing comparisons.
- AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
- A technically detailed launch of an open-source, self-hosted voice-agent platform, including architecture, APIs, provider integrations, deployment, fallbacks, testing, limitations, and compliance caveats. Broadly useful, though claims are largely project-authored and some features remain beta or unconfirmed.
