Summary
A Kerno study of 46 open-source codebases (about 201,600 commits, 16 million lines, October 2022 to October 2026) finds new code now carries roughly 50% more decision points per 100 lines since AI adoption, with complexity rising from about 5 to 10 per 100 lines since 2025.
