Summary
Perplexity has added a web_grounding mode to its Decisions API, letting decision models search the web before answering time-sensitive questions. On the PWS-Decisions benchmark, accuracy rose from 51% to 86% with median latency under 400 ms, according to Perplexity's own test. Each completed search adds $0.001 in cost.
