R/place for Git – Open-source Git server sustaining 567 pushes/s

Summary

Reason Machines released Aspen, an open-source (Apache 2.0) Git server that follows the design OpenAI describes for its internal Pando backend: per-branch compare-and-swap in Postgres, and fetches served from stored packs rather than rebuilt ones. The company reports 567 pushes a second for five minutes on one 8-core server, with a 208 ms median, but this is its own single measurement on git.git and is unverified. It also says rates drop on very large repositories. The project is pre-alpha and warns against storing data you cannot lose.
