Hrih News reports that a former architect tested 13 AI models on technical drawing and found that Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5, released in September 2026, can produce permit-quality construction drawings for a simple house when guided by a human reviewer. Earlier models mostly produced crude or inaccurate drawings.

Why it ranked

No. 86 of 110 with a score of 0.58. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.89) and reader interest (0.71), lowest on audience breadth (0.48). Placed No. 86, No. 76 by score alone: the 35th AI & machine learning story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

Hands-on test of AI models generating architectural drawing sets; substantive method and evidence from one practitioner, but niche audience outside architecture and some speculative economic claims.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
A detailed first-person benchmark shows frontier models generating editable architectural drawings through code, with examples, iterations, costs, and caveats. It is highly relevant to AI, software, design, and professional workflows, though evaluation is subjective and unevenly assisted.
