Android 18: Google further restricts access to contacts

Comments on “Android 18: Google further restricts access to contacts”

3 judges. Scored by all three judges. Only the day’s top stories get the claim check. How far stories are checked

With Android 18, Google will block most apps from creating or editing contacts in the background, arguing that few apps need that access. Apps targeting Android 18 must instead use contact intents such as ACTION_INSERT and ACTION_EDIT, which require no permissions, and direct writes will be rejected.
