3 judges. Scored by all three judges. Only the day’s top stories get the claim check. How far stories are checked

Firenook is a Rust-based, drop-in replacement for Google's Firebase Local Emulator Suite, released as version 0.2.1 and shown on Hacker News. It keeps existing firebase.json files, SDKs, ports and data formats, needs no Java, and runs Firestore, Auth, Storage, Functions, Pub/Sub and other services.

Read the original at firenook.dev. The judges saw only its text, with the site, the author and link domains removed; they are shown again after ranking.

Why it ranked

No. 105 of 109 with a score of 0.55. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.92) and practical relevance (0.78), lowest on audience breadth (0.47). The judges disagreed most on promotional (spread 0.45), so the story is marked contested. Placed No. 105, No. 107 by score alone: the ninth Programming & dev tools story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
A vendor release of a Firebase emulator replacement with benchmarks and a clear product pitch; useful to Firebase developers, with promotional tone and vendor-supplied numbers lowering substantiation.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
A technically substantial open-source emulator release with compatibility details, benchmarks, architecture scope, limitations, and actionable adoption steps. Evidence is largely vendor-provided and early-stage, so performance claims warrant caution.
