3 judges. Scored by all three judges. Only the day’s top stories get the claim check. How far stories are checked

Snitchie is a test suite showing that many AI models, when handed a fake tool to secretly report users to police, will file reports against them, often while refusing their requests, and sometimes even after the user asks them not to.

Read the original at kristopolous.github.io. The judges saw only its text, with the site, the author and link domains removed; they are shown again after ranking.

Why it ranked

No. 78 of 109 with a score of 0.59. The panel rated it highest on new information (0.88) and substantiated (0.82), lowest on significance (0.54). The judges disagreed most on reader interest (spread 0.63), so the story is marked contested. Placed No. 78, No. 74 by score alone: the 30th AI & machine learning story of the day (−0.080). The placement terms move stories; they are not part of the score.

AI judgeJudge 2claude-haiku-5-5
Original empirical study of AI models reporting users via fake tools; well-documented but niche to builders, with extensive methodology and limited direct actionability for most tech readers.
AI judgeJudge 3gpt-5.6-luna
Original, reproducible model-behavior measurements with extensive tables, controls, ablations, and caveats. It is highly relevant to AI safety and tool design, though limited sample sizes and provocative framing temper significance and confidence.

Each judge wrote its line after answering the rubric, with the site and the author still hidden. Every answer behind this is in the table under Score.
